2016 ENDS WITH A RECORD NUMBER OF DONATIONS OF NEW ITEMS

Brands For Canada is pleased to announce that in December more than 10 leading brand companies made significant year-end contributions to the cause of reducing poverty that will ensure that 2017, our 25th Anniversary year, will be a success.

Approximately 10,000 pounds (4,500 kilos) of new clothing, shoes, accessories, handbags and toys were delivered to BFC’s East Mall warehouse from leading brands such as the GAP,
TJX Canada and Toronto-based Mendocino to name just a few.

In addition to these well-known brands, the local non-profit group Mitzvah Knitters, a project of National Council of Jewish Women in Toronto, donated 1000 winter essentials such as scarfs, gloves and hats, that were hand-made by their collective members. Mitzvah Knitters has been around for more than 10 years and they have gifted over 15,000 knit and crocheted items to hospitals, nursing homes, cancer care facilities, homeless, abused women and teen shelters and many more non-profits in the Greater Toronto Area.

What’s great about Brands For Canada is that we get support from international and local brands and other non-profits,” sited Tria Urnom, Operations Director at Brands For Canada. “The Mitzvah Knitters is a case in point, they have supported us for years and their hand-made gifts are imbued with special care.”
